September 5 - 25
Wondrous Light: Aurora Borealis
is an international exhibition sponsored by Hawaiʻi Handweavers' Hui and the Glass Fusion Collective, and juried by Suzie Liles (fiber) and Hugh Jenkins (glass). This year’s exhibition is first on view at the Downtown Art Center in Honolulu, July 9-26.
Award-winning fiber art, including pieces created on Hawaiʻi Island, will travel from Honolulu to Hilo for the exhibition at the Wailoa Art Center.

The Hilo exhibition will open with a public reception on Friday, September 5 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. It will remain on display through September 25, 2025.
Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-4pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. Closed Sunday.
We invite viewers to visit the fiber art selected for our biennial juried exhibition. This year's show encourages artists to explore the myriad facets of the Aurora Borealis. The Northern Lights have captivated humanity for millennia. Their ethereal beauty, a mesmerizing dance of light across the night sky, has inspired awe, wonder, and countless myths and legends.
A natural phenomenon displaying a vast spectrum of brilliant colors, the Aurora Borealis captivates the imagination and stimulates endless metaphors and creative expression.

Juror Statement
I am excited to be the juror of this show. I lived in Alaska where I saw the majestic Aurora Borealis many times. I expect to see some wonderful use of colors that would portray the imagination brought forth by the thought of this exciting phenomenon. It will be delightful to see how color, structure and fiber techniques are utilized in this exhibit.
